The headline

For most visa-free eligible travellers entering South Korea, K-ETA remains a pre-entry requirement. Travellers must also complete the e-Arrival Card within three days before arrival, subject to applicable exemptions and current government guidance.

Key requirements

K-ETA
Apply before boarding when required. Eligibility and exemptions depend on nationality, travel purpose, and current official guidance.
Fee waiver
The temporary application-fee waiver for approximately 22 countries and territories is stated to continue through 31 December 2026.
Validity
An approved K-ETA is generally valid for multiple entries for up to two years, subject to passport validity and applicable rules.
e-Arrival Card
Complete the electronic arrival declaration within three days before landing, where required.
Boarding check
Confirm the K-ETA decision and arrival declaration before the traveller proceeds to the airport.

Employer and mobility checklist

The K-ETA is not a work permit or an employment authorization. Employers should ensure that the traveller's entry status matches the actual purpose of travel and that any work activity is separately assessed under the appropriate Korean immigration route.

Before departure, mobility teams should verify nationality-specific eligibility, passport details, K-ETA status, intended activities, and e-Arrival Card completion. Employees should use the official portals rather than relying on screenshots, third-party summaries, or outdated travel instructions.
