Key change 1: New high-wage CRS points factor

IRCC refers to this as the “labour market integration factor”. From 3 November 2026, CRS awards additional points through two pathways. If a candidate qualifies under both, the higher score applies — they are not cumulative:

Canadian work experience
In a high-wage occupation: up to 150 points (no spouse) / 140 (with spouse).
Qualifying job offer
In a high-wage occupation: up to 100 points.

Key change 2: 186 high-wage occupations qualify

IRCC has published the high-wage occupations list. Occupations are identified by NOC and grouped into three wage tiers. The tier is based on the occupation's national median wage — not the candidate's individual salary — using 2023–2025 wage data.

Wage tierWork experience bonusJob offer bonus
2 × median wage+70+100
1.5×–2× median wage+40+70
1.3×–1.5× median wage+20+50

Key change 3: Job offer points return — no LMIA required

Job offer points were previously removed in March 2025. Under the 2026 rules, a valid job offer in a high-wage occupation earns CRS points without an LMIA. Offers must still pass IRCC genuineness checks. More points ≠ easier approval. An ITA still comes down to your total CRS score and the category being drawn at that moment.

For employers and mobility teams

Automatic recalculation
Existing Express Entry profiles will be automatically recalculated when the changes take effect; invitation rounds pause for up to two weeks while this happens.
Update profiles early
Candidates with a qualifying job offer should update their Express Entry profile before 3 November so the offer is reflected in their points calculation. IRCC's interim instruction: select “positive LMIA” in the profile, even though an LMIA is no longer required.
Verify occupations and terms
Employers should check whether candidates' occupations appear on the IRCC high-wage occupations list, and verify job offer wage level and terms before relying on these points.
